Doug is a hugely important piece of the UK's comic series puzzle, having co-created the iconic sci-fi comedy series Red Dwarf which was a mainstay of primetime viewing. It also made superstars of the cast who were all awesome in their own right. Doug's been involved in a lot of subsequent (and preceding) projects of course, including his book 'Sinbin Island' (aimed at the child readers among us). This is a lovely one with Brett and Doug, covering all sorts including the generation of new material so often, being an author, a potential "anti-dying on stage device" which can be applied to life itself, hidden and visible romance in Red Dwarf, his own personal 'bit of a nuisance' and how wearing gloves can be an early signifier of future writing adventures. As well as that, we get to know more about the hinge of comedy and drama, acting technique and essentially being prescribed acting, chemistry and inverse chemistry, not being an ironist, dogs and horses, generational war trauma by proxy, the base sauces of cinema, and those rough 80's vibes.
