OpenAI is enhancing its safety features by informing parents when their teenagers are banned from ChatGPT for making violent threats. This update follows past criticisms regarding the company’s failure to report dangerous users to the proper authorities. Through linked accounts, guardians can now monitor serious policy violations and receive alerts if the AI detects potential self-harm. Beyond safety notifications, the platform is introducing Study Mode to encourage interactive learning and frequent reminders to promote healthier screen time habits. These changes were developed in partnership with Moonshot, a firm focused on identifying and mitigating online risks. The initiative aims to provide families with the tools necessary to intervene early when a minor’s digital behavior becomes concerning.
