A 15-hour standoff at a bank building in Bakersfield, California, ended Wednesday after all hostages were freed and the suspect was killed by the FBI. 

As the votes are still coming in for California's primaries, it seems voters will likely send two Republican political newcomers to the November elections.

And, for the first time since the war with Iran started, the Republican-led House passed legislation that would force President Trump to stop all military action against Iran. However, it still has to go to the Senate.

The former first lady saying she thought president Biden was having a stroke during that infamous debate.

At least two people were killed and nine workers are "unrecovered" following the implosion of a chemical tank at a pulp and paper mill in southern Washington state on Tuesday, according to a news release shared by authorities on Wednesday afternoon. Several more people were injured. Rescue teams found five of seven people alive inside a flooded cave in Laos, but how to safely extract the survivors remains unsolved. Former first lady Jill Biden said she was "frightened" by her husband Joe Biden's 2024 debate performance and thought he was having a stroke.

At least one person was killed and nine workers were unaccounted for following the implosion of a chemical tank at a pulp and paper mill in southern Washington state on Tuesday, local authorities said. President Trump said his health "checked out perfectly" after a medical checkup on Tuesday. Sonny Rollins, the tenor saxophonist and restless genius whose bold, distinctive tone and constant experimentation kept him on the cutting edge of jazz for more than 50 years, died Monday at age 95.

President Trump has said a deal with Iran is "largely negotiated" and that he will either sign "a great and meaningful" pact with Tehran, "or there will be no deal." Fifty thousand Southern California residents remain under evacuation orders Monday after emergency crews raced to prevent a tank holding a volatile industrial chemical from exploding at an aerospace facility in Garden Grove. Saturday's shooting near the White House has raised security concerns ahead of summer celebrations to mark America's 250th birthday. The shooter, who was killed after opening fire on a Secret Service checkpoint, had previously blocked a White House entry lane last June, court records show.

NASCAR star Kyle Busch experienced shortness of breath, felt he was overheating and was coughing up blood the day before his death, according to a 911 call obtained Friday by CBS News. Tulsi Gabbard said Friday that she is resigning as the director of national intelligence, stepping aside after her husband was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.

Kyle Busch, a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, died Thursday after being hospitalized with what his family called a "severe illness." He was 41. A flight headed for Detroit made a last-minute diversion to Canada on Wednesday night over Ebola concerns stemming from a passenger who wasn't supposed to be on board. Millions of Americans are beginning their travel ahead of Memorial Day weekend, marking the unofficial start of the summer travel season.

The Senate has passed a GOP-led stopgap bill to avert a government shutdown. President Trump delivered a campaign-style speech at the Justice Department on Friday to lay out his vision for the department, in which he vowed a tougher "law and order" approach. Critics warn the shake-up threatens the department’s independence. Passengers described panic and chaos as flames erupted on an American Airlines flight at the gate in Denver.
