Baseless Speculation

Kraven producer Matt Tolmach said they were "excited about [Kraven] and Christmas is the best release period there is, when you get people with time to go back to the movies over and over again. That was a real reflection of how the studio felt about the movie. We're really excited. But that's a great move that reflects just the feeling about the movie". Was he right? Is Kraven the kind of movie that benefits from multiple rewatches? We here at Baseless Speculation had to find out. So with no concern for our physical or mental health, your three favourite boys (who love movies, who love their friends and who love seeing movies with their friends) decided to watch Kraven four times in one day. That meant arriving at the cinema at midday and leaving at midnight. Is Baseless Speculation stupid for doing this? Yes. The answer is yes. We shouldn’t have done this. Matt Tolmach lied to you, he lied to us and he lied to himself. If there was any justice in the world he'd give us $168 AUD.

The Four Kraven's In One Day Baseless Speculation Special

Superman, like Baseless Speculation, is back baby! His big S stands for hope and that's exactly what we all are for this film! The boys are a big fan of Corenswet as a name, are a little afraid of anyone named Lachlan, especially if they're a lawyer and get lost in the blitz riff. Zammit still has faith in Gunn, Jackson is excited that Superman is doing something different and JD has a very special message for all those Snyder fans. Will this film be good? Will the audience go see it? Will it crack a billy? We don't know, the only thing we do know is that this was definitely recorded in 2025.

It's a new year, we're branching out from apes into horses (just like how I assume evolution did?) so this weeks horse face is that horses cannot burp or vomit. Their throat sphincter is just too strong. If it was any weaker they'd vomit every time they went for a run which would just be an incredible thing to watch. I guess this also means horses are very easy to poison. There ya go, two horse facts! What a way to open 2025.

Superman 2025

Just like Baseless Speculation, Marvel will never die baby! Captain America returns for another outing only he's a different bloke this time. Also there's a red hulk? and a surprisingly large amount of old dudes? Honestly I'm not even fully sure what is going on anymore but the point is we saw Captain America the one where he's a bird, so let's talk about I guess. 

Time for another fun horse fact! Did you know Horses sleep standing up? Personally I hate that, but their legs lock into place through a system called "Stay Apparatus" and that allows them to get in a good nap without falling over. I don't know why I have such a violent reaction this fact, but it makes me trust horses even less.

Did you know Horses cannot vomit? Is that good or bad? Because no one likes vomiting but maybe after a heavy night and you're feeling sickly it can make you feel a whole lot better you know? Are these poor horses just left feeling crook with no way to get over it? Really makes you think.

Hancock 2: What's Going to Happen?

The MCU has been a little aimless for quite a while now, bouncing from potential new lead to other slightly different potential new lead. But who is actually going to be the guy going forward? Who is going to lead Marvel back to greatness and not a mediocre ending before they inevitably reboot the franchise? Lets try find out! 

Think you can sneak past a horse? Think again buddy! Those boys have a nearly 360 degree field of vision. That's insane they are basically like those VR cameras everyone was trying to push a few years ago? Remember that? Hey you can watch this thing in 360 where everything still happens in one place but if you look around there's like a tree or something behind you. Oh yeah... sick. Anyway good on those horses.

Who's the MCU's New Guy?

What Shrektacular time we're all in for because the big green c**t is coming back and we're all absolutely jazzed! How many farts will Fiona do? How many Farts will Zendaya do? What exactly is gooning? these are the big questions we tackle this week so strap in and get ready for a shrektacular time... Did I already use that one? Shreking hell. 

What do horses and elephants have in common? That's right those boys never forget. They have very good memories so if you're thinking about being rude or mean to a horse think again buddy, and not just because their kick can kill a man, but because they will remember and they will not forgive... Well actually idk about that part. I haven't found a fun horse fact yet that suggests they hold grudges. Maybe next week, who knows.

Daredevil: Born Again - Baseless Reaction

Editors Note: Apologies folks. For some reason during the recording Jackson’s microphone cut out for about 8 minutes at 52:48 (Timing might be a little off depending on ads) and then again in the last 2 minutes of the podcast. The audio you will hear for him is from the iPhones used to record the footage. What is Going to Happen in Freakier Friday? FT Grace Jarvis

What is the most exciting way to reveal the cast of the next big Marvel movie? That's absolutely right, a whole bunch of empty chairs. I mean it's just so painfully obvious, this is why DC failed because they didn't bring out the empty chairs. Anyway let's watch this for 5 hours and have a great time maybe. 

Horses are fluent in both Japanese and French but struggle with Italian, mostly because of the hand movements. They only have hooves. Once again is this a very true fact.

Avengers Doomsday Casting Announcement (CHAIR SPECIAL!!!)

The boys are a little tired from Deadpool & Wolverine but surely all the news that’s come out of Hall H in San Diego Comic-Con will perk them up?! It’s not like they’re tired of the dangling keys in front of their face? They love it when a thing is shiny! And the noise that key makes? You better believe that’s hootin n hollerin worthy. Can’t wait for the eventual Deadpool & the Exiles film but we can’t get too excited for that because we have Hall H news! Or should we say Hall H News? Really emphasis the importance with that capital letter. Bob’s back, but this time he is Doom. The response has been: mixed. We got a bit more about Fantastic Four that’s not soul crushing and we finally found out who Giancarlo Esposito is playing in Cappy America: Please Ignore Real World Geo-Political Events. Are we excited for any of this? Time will tell (no).

Apparently only like, five days ago, chimpanzees may be capable of learning human-like words. Scientists watched some controversial footage of chimpanzees and they reckon they can do it with one saying “[g]reat apes can produce human words; the failure to demonstrate this half a century ago was the fault of the researchers, not the animals”. Now that should be capital N News.
