Arsenal Women Arsecast Episode 148: January mailbag

In this episode we look back at Saturday's 3-2 win over Bournemouth. We discuss the uncharacteristic error from Gabriel which gave the home side the lead, then examine his response and what that says about him as a player and a leader. There's credit for Bournemouth in terms of how difficult they made it in the first half, before Declan Rice's second half brace put us in a commanding position. Eli Junior Kroupi pulled one back thanks to a wibbly-wobbly ball, but Arsenal saw the game out comfortably enough, and we talk about how recent experience of dealing with single goal leads might have played a part for us. In this episode we look back at Saturday's 2-1 win over Brighton which sent Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League. We chat about how the game made us feel, with a single goal lead feeling very precarious in the final stages, and we try and unpack the reasons why that is right now. Then we get into the game itself, the dominant first half performance, Martin Odegaard's goal and other chances to score, before we turn our attention to the second half, extending the lead, conceding a goal, and David Raya's incredible save to keep it 2-1.
