Episode 889 - A new season ...

In this episode we chat about Sunday's 3-0 win over Man City in the Community Shield. We start with the brilliant early goal we scored through Riccardo Calafiori, and the superb vision of Myles Lewis-Skelly, before some focus on Martin Odegaard and Christos Tzolis as two players who really caught the eye. We also discuss David Raya, promising signs from Arsenal's performance in terms of our attacking play, and the competitive debut for Bruno Guimaraes, before attention turns to players who weren't there and what we might read into the absence of Gabriel Martinelli in particular. In part two we answer questions about Arsenal's transfer business, amid confusion around aspects of the finances. If we could buy Vinicius Junior and pay his wages, why is it being reported we need to sell, and is it coincidence that it's players like Lewis-Skelly, Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri most strongly linked with moves away? Other questions touch on a new defender, season motivations for Odegaard and Bukayo Saka, and lots more besides.

Arsecast Extra Episode 708 - 17.08.2026

In this episode I'm joined by Luke Kempner from 'The thing about Arsenal' podcast to chat about the 1-1 draw with Como on Wednesday evening, and some of the individual performances from young players like Marli Salmon and Max Dowman, including some comments from Cesc Fabregas about their emergence. Episode 888 - So many questions ...

In this episode we chat about the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle, after his unveiling at the stadium on Sunday. We chat about what he can bring to the team, and how we might have to let go of the past a bit, before turning our attention to the Emirates Cup defeat to Borussia Dortmund. There's some focus on new signing Christos Tzolis, and pre-season friendly context applied to the defeat, as well as the big question about what we're going to do in the market in the absence of William Saliba and Jurrien Timber – with a big 'DO NO WANT' around one particular player linked. On this show, recorded just a couple of hours after the game, we reflect on the 2-0 defeat in the North London derby. Despite knowing how they wanted to sucker punch us, we left our jaw hanging out there for a good punching. We chat about the team selection, Thomas Partey's involvement and the bizarre way it ended, conceding two in the first half and then being allowed to dominate the second, and, of course, all the crosses we made. So. Many. Crosses.
