Tonight there are new strikes on the U.S. embassy in Iraq, and the U.S. military dropped 5,000-pound, GPS-guided bombs to blow up Iranian missile sites threatening ships in the Gulf. Back home, top national security official Joe Kent became the first senior administration member to quit over the war. Quoting now from his resignation letter to the president: "Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby."

Second Night Of Attacks On U.S. Embassy In Iraq

President Trump says the fighting will be "wrapped up soon," even as the repercussions of it grow and strikes by Iran continue. One of the world's biggest gas fields in the United Arab Emirates was hit today, and Iranian drones also hit an oil tank farm near the Dubai airport this morning. When the president was asked whether he was surprised he wasn’t briefed that Iran could strike neighboring countries, he told reporters, “No, the greatest experts, nobody thought they were going to hit.” Plus, Anderson speaks to a friend and mentor of U.S. Air Force Captain Ariana Savino, one of the six crew members killed when their refueling plane went down in Iraq.

Trump Says U.S. Obliterated Military Targets On Iran's Kharg Island

A suspect is dead after ramming a vehicle into a Detroit-area synagogue. Law enforcement sources tell CNN the vehicle is registered to a man originally from Lebanon, and authorities are investigating reports that he had family members who were killed in an Israeli airstrike in recent days. And, in Virginia, a fatal shooting at Old Dominion University is being investigated by the FBI as an act of terrorism. The attacker has been identified as a veteran who has served prison time for trying to aid ISIS. Also, Iran threatened to set the region's oil and gas infrastructure “on fire” if Iranian energy sites are attacked. Plus, the U.S. military says that a refueling aircraft was lost over western Iraq.

The Pentagon announced this would be the most intense day of strikes Iran, despite the President's announcement last night that the war could "end soon.” Iran has reportedly begun laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz, according to two people familiar with US intelligence reporting on the matter. CENTOM released new video of what it says are strikes on multiple Iranian naval vessels, including 16 mine-layers near the critical waterway. Back in Washington, Democrats on the Senate Armed Services Committee emerged from a classified briefing today sounding alarm bells about the administration's potential plan for putting U.S. troops on the ground.

President Trump spoke by phone with CNN's Dana Bash today, telling her that he must be involved in picking a new leader for Iran, and saying "It’s gonna work very easily. It’s going to work like it did in Venezuela."
