A doctor who studies gut feelings for a living wrote a fascinating article in the Washington Post this month. We learn about the science behind a gut feeling and when and how to know whether to trust it. Researchers found that people who make quick judgements based on gut feelings alone, only get it right around 54% of the time. Instead, scientists say you should treat gut feelings as stop signs, a moment to assess what you’re feeling and why before making a rash decision. ‘Stranger Things’ Actress Millie Bobbie Brown got married at 20, adopted her first child at 21 and has now adopted her second at the age of 22 alongside her husband, 24-year-old Jake Bongiovi. In the couple’s latest Instagram post, they confirmed they adopted a baby boy, Brown captioning the post with “Hi little guy!” showing Bongiovi and her holding hands with him. Brown is among a smaller fraction of women her age having babies these days, let alone adopting them. Just 3% of adoptive mothers are between the ages of 18 and 29, Brown saying that one day she hopes a pregnancy is in her future as well.

Race organizers have changed the rules because of the incident, admitting they made a mistake by letting her compete for another 30 minutes while putting other athletes at risk.

The lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy triple murder trial has identified himself and is defending his decision. 48-year-old Michael P. Desronvil spoke through his attorney, saying he never had any doubts. Desronvil says he is a devout Catholic and President Trump supporter who understood the law, and believed the evidence and witness testimony pointed to Clancy’s guilt.

49-year-old Jeffery Lee is set to become Alabama’s second execution of the year at 6 pm ET. Lee was scheduled to die back in June via nitrogen gas for the double murder of a pawn shop owner and his employee. Lee also shot and thought he killed a second employee who played dead, but was able to call 9-1-1 and identify Lee. Lee was only sentenced to death after a judge overruled a jury of his peers who voted 7 to 5 for life in prison. A 2017 law in Alabama no longer allows judges to overrule a jury’s ruling, but it’s not retroactive, and does nothing to spare Lee from dying by lethal injection this evening.
