A person is walking around on the runway where the aircraft is scheduled to depart from.
 
Police and ground crews are dispatched to check out what's going on.

In this episode, we are going to listen in on the ATC communications from the recent near collision between Delta and United flights in Phoenix.
 
Delta Flight 1070 had been cleared to land at Sky Harbor’s Runway 8 when a collision warning went off in the cockpit. The flight, carrying 245 passengers, was inbound from Detroit.
 
At the same time, a similar alert was set off on United Flight 1724, arriving from San Francisco, carrying 123 passengers and six crew members.

ATOOC: Don't Mess with the EWR Tower

In this episode, a student pilot has himself in a bit of a situation near San Bernadino (SBD), California.
 
The weather has turned hazy and the inexperienced pilot has become disoriented.

ATOOC: Hazy Student Over San Bernadino

Our thoughts go out to all of the families who lost someone in this recent tragedy. 
 
In this episode, we have the audio from the control tower leading up to the mid-air crash of American Eagle flight 5342 and an Army helicopter near Washington Reagan airport (DCA).
 
The flight was carrying 64 passengers and crew from Wichita, Kansas to DC and collided with the helicopter performing a training flight with 3 service members on board.
 
As it stands now, the day after, authorities believe there are no survivors.

ATOOC: January 29th Crash Near DCA

ATOOC: Delta Crash Landing at YYZ

In this episode, we fly over to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA). Heavy wind gusts caused an Elite Air Challenger 300 series aircraft to violently swerve on takeoff.
 
This resulted in a wing strike and the aircraft exiting the runway, coming to rest on the grass.
 
The tower puts a hold on all other aircraft and closes the airport.

ATOOC: Total Electrical Failure

In this episode, we listen in on a controller with some great intuition.
 
A private pilot at Rocky Mountain Metro airport, radios the tower preparing to take off, but he doesn't sound quite right.
 
The pilot is slurring his words and can't seem to remember the runway numbers at the airport.
 
At the end of the recording, you will hear the controller ask the pilot to shut down the aircraft so authorities could ask him some questions.
 
Once approached, the man was indeed arrested for being under the influence.
