What is with belief in gods?

God transformed man into a god by breathing into man His Holy Spirit. It is not only that God made man His son (or a god), but God also created in man the ability to grow in divinity by making man a living soul. God’s angels (first set of gods created by God) were confused about the implication of this new arrangement. Even though man was raised to a divinity level a little lower than that of angels (Ps. 8:5), will man eventually grow beyond the level of angels? One third of angels were so irked by this question that they rebelled against God. The leader of the rebellious angels (now known as Satan) decided to set up an alternate kingdom and make himself like the Most High (Is. 14:14). Satan decided to bring man under his dominion and the only way to do this is by destroying man’s ability to grow in divinity. He went to the Garden of Eden where man was and deceived man into going against the word of God (Ez. 28:13-15). Man therefore ate the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, the fruit that damages the human soul. Man became “mere men” (Ps. 82:7) that worship gods that are supposed to be his equals. That is the fall of man.
