Velvet Whisper Operation: A Secret Operation of Love & Intrigue

Paris, 1948. Captain Alistair Croft follows every rule the Service ever wrote for him. Extract the asset. Do not improvise. Do not share a bed. Do not let a cover require his mouth.

Elodie Voss has already rented the attic as Mrs Croft.

She is a French master of disguise with a laugh that comes through locked doors and a file full of gaps. He is a British intelligence officer who burns forged papers in alleys and writes the dead in the third person. London wants them to pose as honeymooners in one cramped room. The enemy is hunting a woman who travels alone. The only shield they have is a marriage that is not a marriage.

Forced into a single bed, a cracked basin, and a lie they must perform for concierges, bakers, and anyone watching from a window, their bickering turns sharp, then soft. A kiss meant for a neighbour stops being fake. A raid next door drives them under the furniture. Wanting thins the cover faster than any bullet.

Someone has priced them in a coded ledger. A grey coat asks for names. A rival who collects both their ghosts writes them down at a nightclub. Orders from London and from Elodie’s unseen handlers say the same thing in different ink: if the other turns, finish them.

In a city that still listens at doors, Alistair and Elodie must steal a book, survive a shattered window, and decide whether the mission is worth more than the hour they were never supposed to take.

When the cover is the only thing standing between them and a cellar, how long can two people keep pretending the hunger is only for the work?

Espionage doesn't leave much room for inconvenient feelings. The couples in the Secret Hearts series find them anyway.

Each standalone follows daring pairs through high-stakes covert operations, forced proximity, and the particular tension of two sharp people who can't afford to be distracted by each other. From cobblestone streets in Europe to exotic global fronts, these fierce heroes and brilliant heroines spend their missions outwitting enemies and trying to ignore something considerably more difficult to manage.

Witty banter, close quarters, and steamy romance woven through genuine suspense. The missions are real. So is the mutual attraction that keeps complicating them.

Can these agents complete the job and walk away with their hearts still intact?
