Wendy has always believed healing hearts matters as much as healing minds. Her lifelong dream finally takes shape when she buys an old ranch and turns it into a center for kids with PTSD, using horses to help them find balance again. With grit and compassion fueling her, she’s ready to make it work. The only problem she needs someone who truly knows the horses.

Shane Powell wants no part of it. A reclusive cowboy with bills piling up, he takes the job out of necessity, not conviction. Rugged, withdrawn, and carrying scars he won’t name, Shane plans to do the work and keep his distance. But the ranch has other plans, and so does Wendy.

Long days with the horses and quiet evenings under wide skies pull him closer, breaking down walls he thought were permanent. Wendy sees the man he tries to hide, someone scarred but still capable of more.
