Throughout this series of journals released to acknowledge 80 years since the beginning of WW2, we will be looking at the seven years of that conflict on an annual basis. The statistics from World War II, to this day, still make alarming reading as it’s generally accepted that this global conflict caused the deaths of over 50 million people, with two thirds being civilian, killed as a result of bombings, large-scale massacres, starvation, and hardship. The future of just about every nation and the way the world was governed depended upon the Allies winning the war, because if the outcome had swung in favor of Adolf Hitler and his Axis powers of Evil, the cost to humanity would have been even greater.
