620: Clayface, Exit 8 & Michael Movie

All good things must come to an end, like for example our War of the Worlds retrospective. But at lease we're going out on the lowest of the lows, the 2025 but filmed in 2020 Ice Cube "screenlife" adaptation. Considered by many to be one of the worst movies ever made with such a bizarre and terrible execution it's kind of hard to stay focused on one thing at a time when talking about it. Aliens continue to be real on our journey through three very distinct War of the Worlds adaptations. This week it's the second collaboration between Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise after Minority Report, War of the Worlds 2005. Interesting premise and time, post 9/11, Tom Cruise in his weirdest (publicially) era and a director who'd made two exceptional extra terrestrial propeties prior to this. This should be fantastic! And to celebrate that and the return of Steven Spielberg to making an alien movie with Disclosure Day in 2026 we're going to take a look at three adaptations of the War of the Worlds, starting with the 1953 classic. In our final entry in our "movies about video games that aren't based on video games" we take a look at the be all and end all entry defined by those very specific parametres, 2018's Ready Player One. In a future bogged down in nostelgia to the detriment of a crumbling society it's up to a group of plucky internet savy individuals to unlock the mystery of the Oasis, a Virtual Reality space where your wildest dreams can come true. If your wildiest dreams are like, walking around and Batman is there or the Delorian or whatever.
