The Vintage Dog Scrapbook collects essays, anecdotes, poems and literary excerpts on dogs and the people who love them, and prints them among photographs of the English Springer Spaniel drawn from rare breed volumes in our library. The text is written for dogs in general; the pictures are the breed's alone.

Separated from the Cocker by the Kennel Club in 1902 - before which the two came from the same litters, sorted by size and quarry - the springer remains Britain's foremost flushing dog, and one of the busiest, muddiest, most cheerful animals ever to come through a hedge.
