The Spirit of Japan

Rabindranath Tagore shared a special bond with Japan as he even developed close connection with the Japanese intellectuals even at a personal level, The Spirit of Japan is a reflection of the writer's thoughts of how he viewed Japan with all her ideals and philosophies, be it with regard to the government or nature itself.

The book is more of an essay where he brings about the contrast between the Eastern and Western way of thought and he praised the Japanese for keeping their spiritual, cultural and aesthetic values intact when the West falsely believed and justified their supremacy all over the world. This book has been his way of encouraging countries across the world to believe in their values and not just mimic what seems to have worked for the West.
