Life has a sense of humor. So does grief.

Hunter's Cove, Texas has always had a lot to say about Savoy Chandler, as a widow and the woman her mother-in-law spent years deciding wasn't quite enough. What the town doesn't know is that a year after burying her husband, she is still sleeping in his car, still running a gospel radio show she can barely hold herself together for, and still carrying a grief nobody around her knows how to touch. The quiet, dignified version of loss, the one people bring casseroles for, left the building a long time ago. What's left stinks, drinks, and sits outside a pile of rubble that used to mean everything just to feel close to what she lost.

When the life Savoy has been white-knuckling her way through suddenly fills up again with people she didn't ask for and a reckoning she can no longer outrun, she has to decide whether the woman she's been surviving as is the woman she actually wants to be.

The last person she expected to walk back through the door was her husband's ex-wife. And the last thing either of them expected was what they would mean to each other.
