The Refuge of Le Chambon

In 1942, American historian Lydia Burgess has remained in France to study its past, but when a Jewish family in her apartment building is arrested, she can no longer remain a quiet observer of history. Joining a relief agency escorting children to safety, she accompanies them to Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, a remote mountain village in unoccupied France, which has become a refuge for those fleeing persecution.

In Le Chambon, Dr. Christophe de La Croix will do anything to protect the innocent in his care. After the Germans occupy southern France, Lydia faces internment as an American citizen.
