Religion og spiritualitet
The Psalms of Islam (Al-Sahifa Al-Sajjadiyya) holds a position of profound reverence within Shia doctrine; it is widely considered the third most important book of Shia Islamic literature after the Holy Qur'an and the "Nah'jol Balāgheh" although many scholars consider its spiritual weight so significant as to deem it second only to the Holy Qur'an itself. This sacred Collection is composed of 54 Supplications of extraordinary beauty and mysticism, written by Imām Ali Ibn'l Hossēyn (may Divine Peace and Blessings be upon him and his father), better known as Imām Zēynol Ābēdin, or "The Ornament of the Pious." He was a witness to the tragedy of Karbala in the year 61 of the Hijra (680 AD), where his illustrious father, Imam Hossēyn Ibn-ē Ali (may Divine Peace and Blessings be upon him and his father), known as the "Lord of the Martyrs," Third Imam and grandson of the Noble Prophet of Islam (may Peace and Divine Blessings be upon him and his Family), was martyred in the most tragic manner along with all the male members of his Family and his loyal companions. On the tragic Day of Āshurā, Imām Ali Ibn'l Hossēyn was the only man to remain alive, preserved from the massacre only because he was gravely ill at that moment according to the Divine Will. As the Fourth living Imām, he was led as a prisoner to Shām (Syria) along with the remaining members of his Family, principally women, before finally returning to Medina. Among the twelve luminous Imāms, he is remembered as one of the most kind and lovable, renowned for his vast erudition, profound modesty, and extreme humility. These Prayers (Supplications) are so inspiring as to offer comfort to anyone who reads them. The international public owes much to Farideh Mahdavi Dāmghāni for having made these treasures accessible. A polyglot fluent in four languages, French, English, Italian, and Spanish, in addition to her mother tongue, Fārsi, she has translated the extraordinary figure of 650 books over the course of her life. In 1999, she achieved a world record by translating Les Psaumes de l'Islam (The Psalms of Islam) into the French language for the first time in the world; a work that earned her prestigious literary prizes in Iran. In 2010 she then edited the Italian version and, subsequently, the English one (2026). All three versions are now available on e-book platforms, allowing the beauty of the words of Imam Ali Ibn'l Hossēyn (may Peace and Divine Blessings be upon him) to inspire the entire world. Soon the Spanish version will also be available by the same translator.
