Leigh told herself not to think like that. Therapy and medication had finally brought her ever-simmering depression to heel, but it was always there.

“Yes, dear,” Wade said softly, not looking up from his book.

“We’re an old married couple and we’re BORING. Are you okay with that?”

Wade removed his reading glasses and turned his head to look at her. “The numbers might be high, but I’m still the man you married those many, many years ago. I’ll take you into the bedroom right now and in ten minutes I’ll make you forget your name.”

“I wish you would,” she all but snapped at him.
