The Monster I Made Perfect: She Created the Perfect Man. He Wasn't Supposed to Fall in Love.

Brilliant alchemist Naomi Brooks has spent years being dismissed by an elite magical establishment that views her unconventional methods as a liability rather than a gift. Determined to force them to take notice, she pours everything she has into one forbidden working: the creation of Lucian Voss. Assembled from enchanted bone, living tissue, stolen sensory memories, and pure concentrated energy, he is designed to be the perfect man, the living proof that her science can surpass every traditional limit.

Then Lucian opens his eyes and immediately ignores the script. Instead of asking about his purpose, he comments on the temperature of the lab, demands to know whether she has eaten, and watches her with an intensity that has nothing to do with obedience. As the days unfold, the construct she built to demonstrate her brilliance develops opinions, sarcasm, jealousy, and a stubborn will of his own. He refuses containment circles, samples every edible thing in her kitchen, and asks questions she has no safe answers for, especially the ones about why her pulse races whenever he stands too close.

When the alchemical council declares autonomous constructs illegal and moves to seize him, Naomi is forced to flee with the very creation she can no longer fully control. Forced proximity, escalating danger, and Lucian’s relentless curiosity strip away every professional boundary she has ever relied on. Attraction becomes impossible to measure or dismiss. The perfect man she engineered to silence her critics is rapidly becoming the one variable she never accounted for: a partner who sees past her achievements and demands she believe she is already enough.

But the council is closing in, and the emotional bond forming between creator and creation may be the very thing that either saves them or destroys the only working that ever truly mattered. What happens when the monster she made perfect refuses to stay perfect, and the woman who built him finally has to choose between the approval she has always chased and the imperfect, living heart standing in front of her?

***

Each standalone story in The Monsters She Made introduces a new woman, a new monster, and a completely unexpected love story.

Nobody warned them their creations would choose them back.

The women in this series are overlooked, underestimated, and done waiting for something that fits. Each one reaches for forgotten magic to build what doesn't exist yet. A wicker husband. A stone guardian. A perfect magical construct. A powerful kraken. A shadow beast with motives of his own. And more to come.

Each creation was supposed to stay obedient. Manageable. Safely within the bounds of what she intended.

None of them do.

Every monster develops a mind, a heart, and a pull toward the woman who gave him life that he has no interest in suppressing. Attraction deepens into something neither maker nor made has language for. These unlikely pairs discover that the strangest love stories carry the most weight, and that sometimes the one who truly chooses her is the one she built with her own hands.

The monster she made. The man he became. Exactly who she needed.
