The Midnight Vow: An Obsessive Historical Captive Tale

Scandal travels fast in Regency England. One moment at the wrong ball, one witnessed incident Eleanor Ashford can't explain, and her reputation is gone before she can draw breath.

Then Lucien Blackthorn steps in. Cold, deliberate, and not remotely interested in her objections - he removes her from the ballroom and installs her in his gothic estate before the night is over.

Blackthorn Hall sits somewhere past the edge of polite society, all stone corridors and candlelight that does nothing to soften the shadows. Eleanor's room is comfortable. Her access to a hidden library is generous. And the locked doors remind her, daily, that she's not a guest.

She expected a manipulative nobleman. What she finds is harder to dismiss.

Lucien isn't running a standard guardianship arrangement. There's a family curse he won't explain directly, a hunger she catches in his expression when he thinks she isn't watching, and rules that seem designed to keep her inside as much as to keep something else out. The midnight sounds from the upper floors don't help.

Days stretch into weeks. Their arguments grow more honest, their silences more loaded. He's infuriating and controlled and far too attentive to things she never mentioned aloud.

The danger from outside - the reason he claimed she needed protection - is real. She knows that now. But the more time she spends in his company, the more the threat inside these walls starts to feel less like captivity and more like something she isn't ready to walk away from.

Is the locked door keeping the world out, or keeping her from admitting what she actually wants?

Behind the gilded doors of the estate, a scandalous hunger burns brighter than any family secret.

The ivy on Bloodline Estate's walls has been growing for centuries. So have its secrets.

This is 19th-century England, where the elite of the Midnight Syndicate wear their titles and tailored coats like armor. Behind gilded doors and strict Regency etiquette, they're untouchable. Respectable. Controlled.

But the lords of Bloodline Estate are carrying something heavier than old money and family reputation. Ancient lineage runs through these halls, and with it, a raw possessive hunger that daylight hours and social rules can barely contain.

Then the right women arrive. And the pretense starts to crack.

These are their stories: tormented lords, forbidden desire, and the dark that falls when the last candle dies.

The hunt begins at nightfall.
