"The Love Effect" is the sequel to "Crossing Lines."

My name is Jesse Ryan. I'm a single dad to my nine-year-old daughter, Scout. I work construction, and yeah, I'm totally blue-collar. But that's not the issue. The issue is that last year someone from my past came back into my life. She's all grown-up now, and we eventually found ourselves in love. As a man loves a woman.

The only issue is that she's my stepdaughter. I mean, she's an adult, I'm an adult, but people may think it's seedy and immoral. So that's why I've kept it a secret.

The problem is now September is gone. She left my life when we both found out some shocking news. I admit, I didn't handle it well. But now, all I can think about is making it up to September - and to hell with what others think.

I love September Dawson and I want to make her mine. If only I can find her . . .
