The Liger Syndrome

It all began with the shooting of a drug dealer—a kid, the son of the Los Angeles Mafia godfather. A contract was placed, and America’s top assassin was hired to eliminate the cop responsible. Meanwhile, strange events were unfolding in a quiet Tennessee town, where the cop was now living as an anonymous deputy sheriff. A government-sanctioned experiment to create the perfect bioweapon had gone horribly wrong, releasing a genetically engineered hornet into the unsuspecting public. Millions of years of evolution had been compressed into mere months in the lab, resulting in the hornet developing Liger Syndrome. With its growth inhibitor gene disabled, the creature’s size and appetite increased exponentially. As a fast-breeding predator, it quickly developed a taste for human flesh, and humans were set to become the new farmed animal—bred for food.
