This story introduces us on a mysterious and millennial journey in man's life from its beginning, who in his fight against diseases and death has made use of the beneficial effects of the plants, among which, without fail, the cannabis plant. In addition, due to its versatility, this plant has been used in industrial processes such as the elaboration of textile fibers, paper and even ropes.

The first botanical classification of the plant was made in 1753, by the Swedish botanist Carl Von Linneo, who classified and described the plant as “Cannabis Sativa L”. Since then, research has not stopped; including nowadays great advances in the heath’s area, with novel and controlled clinical trials, presentations and new applications for the relief of some pathologies or associated symptoms, where traditional drugs have failed.

Cannabis is currently submitted in an extensive regulation process that includes taking decisions about the risk/benefit balance, many countries have considered cannabis as a possible treatment for fighting and/or stopping certain pathological mechanisms of diseases and/or as a contributor in improving the efficiency and safety of other drugs.
