Minutes before my wedding, a phone call from my fiancé rips my life apart.

I flee to the Scottish Highlands, seeking sanctuary in Bannock, an idyllic town I visited as a child.

All I want is peace and quiet to mend my broken heart. Instead I lock horns with the grumpy Scotsman who runs my hotel.

I don't recognize him at first but it turns out he's Alasdair McIntyre, the first boy I ever kissed.

As a twelve-year-old, he was sweet, but now? His blunt remarks and cocky smirks infuriate me, while my comebacks only reinforce his view I'm a stuck-up big-city "lass.

I came here to heal, not be provoked by this irritatingly handsome Highlander. Yet beneath his gruff exterior and admittedly impressive muscles, there are glimmers of another side to the man.
