The Future of Brexit Britain: Anglican Reflections on National Identity and European Solidarity

The traumatic debates provoked by the EU referendum have subjected the idea of British identity to relentless and painful interrogation. How might Britain as a multinational state understand its own defining moral and political commitments in relation to its European neighbours? If, as many suggest, a resurgence of English nationhood has been the driving force behind Brexit, how might the Church of England, as the ‘national Church’ in England, and its neighbouring Anglican Churches, respond to this and the many other missional challenges they face?
