This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. The Campbells had always been King’s men. Indeed, MacCailean Mor (Son of the Great Colin) was the Gaelic title of the Campbell chief. This was in memory of Sir Colin Campbell, murdered in the String of Lorne in 1296 whilst on King’s business. It was therefore with great heart searching that Archibald Campbell, 8th Earl and later 1st Marquess of Argyll, found himself leading the Covenanters.

This is the story of his life from a teenaged Lord Lorne until his execution by a vengeful Charles II. Many at the time held that it was judicial murder. Argyll was a man before his time and desired a constitutional monarchy and freedom of worship, both of which we take for granted today.
