Charles Spurgeon was considered “the prince of preachers” in nineteenth-century Britain. In his sermon “The Faithfulness of Jesus,” he points to the Prince of Peace’s abounding love for his undeserving followers. He writes with passionate fervor: “Earth-worms are miserable company for angels, moles but unhappy company for eagles, yet love made our great Master endure the society of his ignorant and carnal followers.” This moving sermon assures Christians of Jesus’ never-ending faithfulness and love for his people.
