The Empty Room: A Steamy College Hockey Romance

Five bedrooms. Four hockey players. One rule they were never supposed to break.

Mara Ellis doesn't need a man to rescue her. She needs affordable rent, a lease with her name on it, and a bedroom door that locks.

After escaping a relationship where every favor came with strings attached, the twenty-one-year-old GIS student is determined to build a life nobody else controls. The empty room at Harker House is supposed to be her fresh start.

Unfortunately, it comes with four hockey players—and one infuriatingly attractive captain who thinks fixing everyone's problems is his personal responsibility.

Callum Mercer has rules for everything. His meals are labeled. His chores are scheduled. And the most important rule in the house is written in red:

Nobody hooks up with a housemate. Ever.

Then Mara moves in.

She's stubborn, fiercely independent, and completely unimpressed by his captain-of-everything routine. She's also the only woman who has ever made him question whether taking care of someone and loving them are actually the same thing.

When a winter blackout turns unbearable attraction into a scorching kiss, they make a private agreement. No sleepovers. No complications. No plans beyond hockey season.

But secret midnight encounters become something neither expected. And as Cal's chance at professional hockey threatens to take him halfway around the world, Mara must decide whether letting someone love her means giving up the independence she fought so hard to reclaim.

Because sometimes the hardest thing isn't learning how to leave. It's finally choosing to stay.

The Empty Room is a steamy, emotional, standalone college hockey romance featuring forbidden roommates, forced proximity, a protective hero, a fiercely independent heroine, found family, laugh-out-loud banter, and a deeply satisfying happily-ever-after.
