Joseph Conrad (1857 - 1924) was a Polish-born writer who learned to write in English in his twenties. He is best known for his stories and novels with a nautical setting, depicting the struggle of the human spirit against a detatched and wholly inscrutable universe.
"The Brute" is the tale of a jinxed ship, a ship which seems to have its own malevolent personality. A ship which deliberately murders its own crew and passengers...
