The Broken Brooch

When a Celtic brooch breaks, its power doesn’t disappear—it becomes unpredictable. No time travel. Just a deadly, real-time race to save her son.

NYPD detective JL O’Grady is ready to trade the gritty streets of New York for the sun-drenched vineyards of Napa Valley. She’s looking forward to watching her son play in a basketball tournament, attending Montgomery Winery’s harvest gala, and leaving her badge—and the pain of her recent divorce—behind for a few days.

Instead, she walks straight into a nightmare.

A local murder bears an unsettling connection to a racketeering and drug case in New York that nearly ended JL’s career. The local police make it clear she isn’t welcome near the investigation, but JL’s instincts tell her this is no coincidence. When it comes to protecting the family she loves, she doesn’t care about jurisdiction.

She finds an unexpected ally in Kevin Allen, the analytical CFO of MacKlenna Corporation. Where JL is fierce and instinct-driven, Kevin is calm and impossible to rattle. As they work to unravel a dangerous conspiracy hiding right beneath the winery’s surface, a moment of unexpected vulnerability ignites a spark neither of them saw coming.

But the stakes turn catastrophic when JL’s son catches them in an embrace, misinterprets the romance, and flees deep into the winery’s vast, dark cave system. When he vanishes without a trace, it triggers an all-hands-on-deck crisis that brings the beloved characters of the MacKlenna clan rallying together to find him.

Trapped by a danger hiding in the shadows, the street-smart cop, the brilliant executive, and a family united by history must risk everything on a desperate rescue mission where the danger is all too real.

The Broken Brooch is a gripping contemporary romantic suspense that proves soulmates don’t need magic to find each other.
