The Amber Brooch

A mining lawyer trapped in a lawless Colorado boomtown. A cynical Pinkerton agent with a dangerous past. A high-altitude peril where logic defies history.

Amber Kelly, a sharp mining lawyer and amateur paleontologist, builds her life on logic and proven facts. But logic shatters when she finds an ancient amber brooch inside her family’s historic cabin and is hurled back to Leadville, Colorado, in 1878. Within minutes of arriving in the chaotic boomtown, Amber risks her life to pull a young boy from the path of an out-of-control freight wagon.

The boy’s father, Pinkerton agent Daniel Grant, survives by reading people quickly and trusting his instincts. Amber’s demeanor and total inability to explain her origins give him every reason to suspect she’s a fraud. Yet, as they are drawn together into a violent world shaped by ambition and ruthless competition, suspicion quickly sparks into an undeniable attraction.

Stranded in the past, Amber is swept into the lawless race to uncover the secrets of prehistoric life—the brutal paleontology conflict known as the Bone Wars. But the unforgiving mountain air holds a hidden, physical peril for Amber, and every step she takes risks altering the future while tying her more closely to a man whose life is bound to a century that isn’t hers.

In the present, Amber’s sister and friends piece together clues to launch a rescue mission. As danger closes in and the cost of every decision rises, Amber must decide whether she is willing to risk the future to protect the life she has found—and a Pinkerton agent she may not be able to leave behind.

The Amber Brooch is a sweeping Western time-travel romance where adventure, discovery, and the power of destiny collide.
