The Absurdities of Being a Teacher: A Quietly Exhausted Guide to Standing in Front of a Room and Pretending This Is Fine

Teaching is often described as a calling. This book explains why that description is deeply suspicious.

The Absurdities of Being a Teacher is a satirical, observational nonfiction book about what it really means to stand in front of a classroom day after day and pretend control is part of the job.

This is not a guide. It will not make you a better teacher. It will not fix the system. It will not offer solutions.

Instead, it does something far more uncomfortable.

It notices.

From lesson plans that collapse on contact with reality,to meetings that could have been emails,to exhaustion that isn’t physical but still hurts, this book follows the quiet, daily absurdities of modern teaching — the kind everyone inside the system recognizes and everyone outside politely misunderstands.

Written in short, sharp observations and dry humor, the book captures:• classrooms that never behave like the curriculum expects,• authority you’re supposed to have naturally,• motivation you’re expected to generate on demand,• paperwork that proves you were busy but nothing else,• and the strange decision to come back again tomorrow.

If you are a teacher, you will feel exposed. If you are not, you will finally understand why teachers laugh at things that aren’t jokes.

This book doesn’t argue. It doesn’t explain. It simply observes — and lets the absurdity speak for itself.
