#1 I was with Erwin Bach, the love of my life, for three years before he asked me to marry him. I said yes, and yes to love, a commitment that didn’t come easily to me. I was seventy-three years old when I was married for the first time.

#2 I was not the type of girl who fantasized about getting married. I had four children with Ike, and we shared a career. I did not want to marry him, but I had no choice. I figured if we were going to get married, I should at least look the part.
