#1 The Galatians were a group of converts from Judaism who were being taught that they were required to keep the Jewish cultural customs of the Mosaic law in order to be pleasing to God. This was a complete repudiation of everything Paul had told them.

#2 Paul was an apostle, meaning he was sent with immediate divine authority. He was commissioned and taught directly by the risen Jesus. What he says is not the result of his study, research, and reflection. It is God-given, and both unchanging and unchangeable.

#3 The gospel is the divinely appointed message of Jesus Christ. It is the only one who gets glory for ever because it is God who deserves all the glory for saving us, not us.

#4 The Christian faith is based on the truth that we are all sinners who need a Savior. In the gospel, we are both brought lower and raised higher than we can imagine.
