#1 The Constitution was designed to prevent the tyranny of the majority, which was the concern of Madison and other members of the Federalist Papers. He believed that the majority should not be allowed to take away the property of the opulent.

#2 The debate between the aristocrats and the democrats was the main reason behind the American Revolution. The aristocrats believed that power should be vested in a special class of people, who would make the decisions and do the right thing. The democrats believed that power should be in the hands of the population.

#3 The same debate exists today between those who believe in reducing inequality and those who believe in reducing democracy.

#4 Inequality has many negative effects. It is extremely unjust in itself, and it has highly negative consequences on society as a whole. It has a corrosive effect on social relations, on consciousness, and on human life.
