#1 We are often so quick to feel gratitude, but we are also very quick to feel entitled. We live in a fast-paced, convenience-driven, and impatient culture, and we are very good at it.

#2 The American Dream is defined as an American social ideal that stresses egalitarianism and especially material prosperity. However, the definition has changed over time; it used to be about getting out of poverty, but now it’s about prosperity.

#3 I had dreamed of owning a house, but after living in it for two years, I began to see it in a completely different light. I began referring to it as our starter home. What had once been more than enough eventually became not enough.

#4 I spent a lot of money on Christmas decorations and gifts for my children. But as my children got older, they seemed to become more interested in tearing open presents than in saying thank you.
