#1 After Joshua’s death, the Israelites were vulnerable to an attack from the Canaanite tribes because there was no leader to lead them. The Lord chose a different strategy, speaking to the hearts of the tribal leaders, and they asked Him which tribe should go first to attack the Canaanites.

#2 The Israelites conquered the cities of Bezek, Jerusalem, and Hebron, and they were about to attack the city of Debir. Caleb’s daughter, Achsah, suggested that her husband ask for a field. But Othniel hesitated because the land in the Negev lacked water.

#3 The story of Othniel and Achsah is a prime example of how God provides the gifts, abilities, and resources needed to accomplish His purpose. He has taught me to expect His provision, trust His provision, and look to His provision - whatever or whoever it happens to be.
