#1 I was raised in a rural environment, and as a result, I inherited a practicality that says when something doesn’t work, get rid of it. I chucked religion, and then education, as I searched for answers.

#2 I began to think that I could find happiness and meaning in prestige. I would find a noble cause, devote myself to it, and in the process, become well known on campus. But the thrill of prestige wore off like everything else I had tried.

#3 I was extremely attracted to the group of Christian students I met, and I decided to become friends with them. They challenged me to examine the claims of Jesus Christ, and I wasn’t buying it. I was fed up with religion and religious people.

#4 I was a prelaw student, and I knew something about evidence. I decided to investigate the claims of Christianity thoroughly and come back and knock the props out from under their sham religion.
