#1 Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event like an accident, rape, or natural disaster. Post-traumatic stress disorder is a psychiatric disorder that may occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event.

#2 Adverse life experiences are events that are too much for your Emotional Heart and Mind to handle, and they lead to a disconnect between the two. This can lead to violence on various levels.

#3 The simple act of avoiding the pain that needs healing may lead to a disconnect from the heart to not feel the intense emotion. When others show up in this space around this feeling, the wounded one’s responses can be numb, cold, frozen, or a desire to get out of the situation or away from the people who are comfortable in that space.

#4 I knew what sex was, and I knew what violence was, at a young age. I would see my parents snort methamphetamine, and I would be given a full adult size dose of NyQuil, which would knock me out every night. I learned to keep quiet and always put a smile on my face.
