#1 It was not until I myself was the victim of a toxic person that I realized how they feed off misunderstood piety and false Christian guilt to spread their attacks far and wide.

#2 I spent way too much time trying to placate a toxic person, and I failed to learn how to play defense. As a result, I was sidetracked and brought unnecessary misery into my life.

#3 Defense is also important. If you’ve never been a people pleaser, this may seem rather elementary. But if you find it easy to write people off, you may justifiably say, Welcome to the world of being an adult.

#4 The way we handle toxic people in our lives is an offense to God, because the Bible tells us that Jesus allowed many to walk away from him. We should view life, ministry, and service through a new lens: offense to God if we allow ourselves to become bogged down by toxic people.
