#1 The image of God is fundamental to understanding God. He is the eternal One, and there is none like Him. He is the One Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done.
#2 The meaning of the phrase image and likeness of God is determined by its context. We can examine the Hebrew words in every instance that they appear in the Bible to see how they are used in other contexts.
#3 The word image is used frequently in the Bible to describe God's form. It is used to describe His creative power, His ability to love, and His mercy. It is used to describe how man was created in God's image.
#4 The word image is used 15 times in the Hebrew Bible. It is used to describe idols, which were just representations of demons that were worshiped. Idols were not real, but they were representations of men.
