#1 The social worker and her colleague were talking about how sad it was that Jamey had been left alone all night, and how his mother had left him alone all night before that. His mother was going to apply for guardianship, and his father never saw him.

#2 When I took care of Jamey, he was wearing a nappy. I had to buy him some more, as his aunt and uncle had only brought enough for one child. I was used to having my granddaughter on my lap, and Jamey felt far smaller and less robust than my granddaughter.

#3 I had to go into town the next day to buy some more presents for Jamey. I’d already bought a few general presents in case a child arrived just before Christmas, but now I could buy more specifically for him.
