#1 It’s time for parents to let go of their preconceived notions that their sons don’t want to talk. Talking to your sons about puberty and the enormous physical, social, and emotional shifts that go along with it is crucial.

#2 To have a conversation with your son, you will need to start it by talking out loud to him. Don’t just dispense wisdom, but ask what he thinks. Avoid eye contact and turn off devices. Grab teachable moments and explain why without lecturing.

#3 There are going to be some things your child just doesn’t want to talk about with you. Plan for that and find someone who can give advice on the important stuff. Take do-overs when you make mistakes.

#4 Testosterone is the hormone that is responsible for aggression and risk-taking, muscle bulking, and sex drive. It is also responsible for the formation of male body parts in the developing fetus, as well as sex drive and erections.
