#1 The boy, Jeremy Guillory, is six years old. His mother, Lorilei, is not working at the moment, so she and Jeremy are staying with her friend Melissa and her boyfriend Michael. The baby in the house is two years old, and he wants to play with the boy.

#2 One afternoon, Jeremy’s mother, Lorilei, comes to visit him. She is three months pregnant. She asks Ricky if he has seen her son. He says no, and she leaves. She does not see the gun propped up against the wall.

#3 Ricky told me that he could not explain his actions, but he knew he had killed Jeremy. He said that he had problems with kids in the past, and that was his destiny.

#4 When my parents bought a house in New Jersey, they moved me, my two sisters, and my brother into it. The house had been abandoned for six years, and when we moved in, the neighbor boy stood and watched us carry boxes of our stuffed animals into the house. I was curious about what he was chewing on.
