#1 DNA is the secret of who we are, and it is deeply embedded in all living things. It is a record of the histories of fusions and fissions that have characterized life from its first humble appearances four billion years ago.

#2 The first part of the answer to who we are is that we are squarely in the midst of the order of mammals known as primates. We share a lot of DNA with other primates, and this has led many to believe that humans are just another species of primate.

#3 Primate sociality is particularly complex and different from other forms of gregariousness. The human capacity to believe is rooted in the deep roots of primate sociality.

#4 The human capacity for cooperation, collaboration, and deep social reliance on and commitment to others is rooted in our histories as primates. We have a capacity for complex social lives, heightened social cognition, and behavioral flexibility.
