ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK

"Gods of Jade and Shadow" by Silvia Moreno-Garcia is a historical fantasy novel inspired by Maya mythology. The story follows Casiopea Tun, a young woman who unwittingly releases Hun-Kamé, an ancient god of death, from his prison.

Bound together by a shard of Hun-Kamé's being now residing within Casiopea, they embark on a quest to recover his missing body parts and reclaim his rightful place as Lord of Xibalba. Their journey takes them across 1920s Mexico, encountering other gods, demons, and mortals, all while evading the machinations of Hun-Kamé's brother, Vucub-Kamé, who seeks to maintain his power. The novel explores themes of identity, destiny, and the clash between ancient mythology and the modern world.
