"Sons of the red soil" deals with the farmers of the small villages in the Kongu Region of Tamil Nadu. The destiny of their livelihood was decided by the monsoonal rain that came every year. Lack of rain brought the problem of water scarcity where hunger and poverty become inevitable. People witnessed their lands becoming infertile. All those who cannot with stand the test of time migrated to the different places in bulk. Among the crowd there arose the protagonist with his revolutionary thoughts ready to face the challenges of life. In spite of all the hardships in his ‘Red soil’ with great zeal and perseverance did he succeed or not becomes the story of the novel. The novel published in the year 1989 has bagged the “Akilan Memorial Novel contest” Award as well as the “Ilakkia Chinthanai” Award, so far there have been ten editions which holds to its credit. Most of his works are recommended as textbooks in various universities. This book is included in the curriculum of various universities and autonomous colleges in South India. This novel finds a pride of place among the well-known literary creations of our day.
