Selected Poems of Wang Anshi

This book is the work of Canadian sinologists who have been studying and translating Wang Anshi's poetry for many years. The auxiliary section systematically summarizes the life of Wang Anshi, elaborates on his poetic style in detail, and fully explains the translator's translation strategy. The main text selects 130 English translations of Wang Anshi's poetry, most of which are quatrains and regulated poems. According to Wang Anshi's life journey, they are divided into eight categories: situational poetry, sympathy, indignation, ambition, self pity, lack of ambition and reluctance, consciousness, and reconciliation. Each category is analyzed and interpreted in detail. The title of the book is taken from the poem "Conversations with Geng Tianzi", which reads: "All things are like the traces of an empty bird, and the strange ruler's strong memory can still be pursued.
